The most recent case is CETC's own investment of USD 250 million in a mega solar manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, India.
CETC Renewable Energy Technology (India) Private Limited (CIN: U74999AP2017FTC107227; Registration Number: 107227), an ancillary of China Electronics Technology Group (CETC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to set up a Mega Solar Cell Manufacturing Plant in Andhra Pradesh, Chittoor.
CETC, headquartered in Beijing is a Fortune Global 500 company, and CETC includes 18 national key laboratories, 10 national research and innovation centers and has a workforce of 150,000 employees and is the largest electronic conglomerate in China.
This investment was facilitated by the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, a single point of contact for trade, investments and partnerships in the state of Andhra Pradesh who have been elevating the status of partnerships with China, Taiwan, South Korea and Japan sustainably to attract manufacturers to Make in Andhra Pradesh.
By this collaboration CETC will invest USD 50 million in a Solar PV Cell Manufacturing park in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The state-of-the-art Solar Manufacturing Park sprawling across around 18 acres will be in Sri City, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. By this investment 300 new employments will be generated in our state in the first phase and about 1500 total jobs will be created. As a result, the Government of Andhra Pradesh is likely to earn USD 8 million in taxes every year once completed.
The MoU was signed in New Delhi on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 on the sidelines of the curtainraiser ceremony of CII Partnership Summit to be hosted in Vizag next month. Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Commerce and Industries, Government of India was present.
At the occasion Mr. J Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, said "CETC finds synergies in investing in Andhra Pradesh as the state is embarking on a next phase of industrialization, Andhra Pradesh is poised to catalyze investments in electronics manufacturing owing to robust infrastructure for connectivity, enabling policies, integration with global value chains and a skilled and ready workforce."
Andhra Pradesh commands 20% of India's electronics and hardware and is poised to reach a market share of 50% by 2020. Focus on innovation and networked excellence, scalable partnerships and a robust investment climate makes Andhra Pradesh a preferred destination for electronics & hardware manufacturing. Last year the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has approved the State government's proposal to set up a Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Chittoor district which is India's first electronics cluster. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. Chandrababu Naidu has allotted 113.27 acres of land for the new cluster and the cluster is anticipated to be developed at a coat of Rs. 104 crores and create around 50,000 jobs a year.
